Upgrade activations are for when your device is shipped inactive and you wish to activate it upon arrival.

Your ESN (Electronic Serial Number) is an 11 to 15 digit number and can be found on the back of your handset underneath your battery next to the caption "S/N" or "DEC". Some devices will have an IMEI (International Mobile Equipment Identity). Consult your device documentation to determine this number.
